Draft Treatment

Target Audience The target audience of my music video is young people between the ages of 16 and 25 with an interest in Pop music. The demographic will be very mainstream in their hobbies, the way they dress, the TV and music they watch and listen to. For example, most of the target audience will dress in mundane clothes, such as jeans and a t-shirt, denim, shirts etc. This demographic doesn't typically wear anything extremely challenging or alternative. I will attract this audience in multiple ways, the first being through clothing and style. The way in which the artist will be dressed will reflect the style of the target audience in order to make them appear relatable and for the audience to feel as if they are similar to the artist, therefore enticing them. I will also achieve this through the locations used: Location Plans The locations I will use in my video will be ones that will be either easily recognised by this demographic or relatable to them. For example, the use of...

Mood Board

Image
I have chosen these images to represent the style and mood of my music video, along with the key elements. For example, the locations presented are examples of places I will look to shoot scenes for my music video. Firstly, with the multiple images of different venues at which the artists in my video will be seen performing at. There is progression of these venues from small, local stages all the way up to the O2 Arena, where the video will finish. I have also included locations of alley ways, high streets, woods and parks. These locations will be used in between the performative aspects when the band is performing at venues, and will demonstrate the progression and transition from one venue to the next. I have included a image of the Two Door Cinema Club artists in order to present the typical dress sense and style of pop artists and to demonstrate how the characters in my video will be dressed.

Key Elements

Image
At least two different social groups - I will use the representation of male and female in my music video. This will be achieved by including both male and female members of the music group. This is a progressive representation as it demonstrates that anybody can be involved in music and in a music group, no mater their gender. The female in my video will be playing a guitar which goes against the stereotype of men playing instruments in bands, as it would be uncommon to see a women playing an instrument in a band. This is an important representation as I am demonstrating that women are equally capable of playing an instrument and the representation challenges the stereotypes of gender roles in music.  Intertextuality - my video will include intertextual references to both The Verve and The White Stripes. I will achieve the intertextual reference to The Verve by starting my video with the artists waling through a street, referencing the Bitter Sweet Symphony music vi...

Audience Demographics

Image
The demographic of a listener of pop music is typically between the ages of 16-25. Two Door Cinema Club successfully attracts these sorts of people. The social class of this demographic of people will generally be middle class and they will be relatively mainstream in the way they dress, the music they listen to and their hobbies. This demographic will tend to listen to pop music which will they will access from platforms such as Youtube, Spotify or Apple Music, as well as Radio Stations such as BBC Radio 1. In terms of what pop music listeners would do in their spare time, they would binge watch TV series from platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime, as well as taking part in mundane sports such as football, swimming, tennis and netball for example. Examples of how these people would dress are present below: This is an example of a typical teenage girl, who listens to pop music would dress. She is wearing what would would be considered normal clothes, with jeans, a plain ...

Similar Videos To One I Want To Create

Image
Similar Videos Charlotte Gainsbourg - Deadly Valentine The ‘Deadly Valentine’ music video contains a narrative demonstrating a couple growing up together from toddlers to an elderly couple. I am planning to create a narrative in my music video, which is inspired by this idea of progression, by demonstrating the artist in my video starting as unknown and everyday people, becoming world famous in the music industry. I will achieve primarily through the location of their performances. For example, at the start of the video, the group will be seen practising in a bedroom at home before progressing to playing in halls, local venues, small gigs and finally at a stadium concert such as the o2. I also like the editing technique used to emphasis certain beats of the music. This happens when there is a bass for example, a cut is used to change the scene and location, and sometime props and costumes. I would like to imitate this is my music vide by cutting to a new location when there...

Email To Production Company Regarding Copyrights

Email To Production Company Regarding Copyrights Dear Sir, or Madam, I am writing in regards to the copyrights of the song ‘The Is The Life’ by Two Door Cinema Club and potential use of the track in coursework I will be submitting for an A Level in Media Studies. I am currently studying music videos and production companies and have been set the task of shooting and producing a music video, for a song of the pop genre by the exam board, alongside launching a fictional production company and record label. After research into production companies, music video production and the pop genre, I came to the conclusion that the song I wanted to produce a music video for was ‘This Is The Life’ by Two Door Cinema Club as I believe I can produce a video that accompanies the theme and style of the song. In order to use ‘This Is The Life’ in the production of a music video, I require permission from Maison Kitsuné due to copyright of the song. The completed music video will be availab...
Pop Genre

Song Choice

Song Choice Two Door Cinema Club - This Is The Life This artist is very based on guitars with no drums nor typical band of a rock genre for example, which is why Two Door Cinema can be classed under the pop genre. This song is very upbeat, with  high pitched vocals and use of guitars, similar to the style of George Ezra of the Sony Production Company and of a typical pop genre artist such as Harry Styles, who's vocals are quite high, without a deep or musky tone. 'This Is The Life' has clear use of repeated choruses and melodic tunes, identities of a pop song. The song also has a basic format with the use of a simple chorus and verse which we see in this song with the repeated use of the lyrics 'this is the life' in the chorus. The song's length is also a signifier of the pop genre with the song being short to medium in length, being 3 minutes 30 seconds.

Pop Artists Under Sony

Image
Pop Artists Under Sony One Direction Mainly vocals from the front 4 however there is   use of a band including guitars etc. Little Mix All Vocals and very performance based with dancing etc. Very popular with younger demographic and listeners of such shows as BBC Radio 1, also making multiple appearances in the UK Charts. The Vaccines Prominent use of band, including guitars and drums, edging on indie but keeping a pop label in terms of where their music is played and the demographic of their listeners. For example many of their recent songs from a newly released album have been played by the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show regularly and is well received by audiences of tis show, also making the UK top 40 Charts with numerous songs. George Ezra Based on vocals and guitar. Often considered quite edgy pop music, similar to The Vaccines but not as far from the typical pop genre in terms of the manner of the vocals, being softer than the v...

Logo Designs

Image
Logo Designs I would like to include a modern and professional looing logo that will represent my production company with bright or rich colours in order to impose a smart and professional style from the first impression I think a dark theme would be best for creating this royal and professional style however this may not suit the style of song, which is sung by Two Door Cinema Club The other option would be to base the design on the song itself which would include a more modern and sleek design with more vibrant colours. These examples demonstrate this with the first using a san serif font which is more casual in style to the above. This matches the style of music, which is quite up beat and fast paced. The colours are also very tropical and reflect a summery theme which is achieved through the song and its music video.
