Mood Board

Top Left: a scene from Nothing but Thieves' 'wake up call' music video where he is running from loads of the same thing, similar to my idea of the alien running from all the people consumed by their phones. Top Centre: A UFO photo from Tonbridge which created major conspiracies which I could base the aliens existence from. (I also know the person who took the photo so can easily use it without any issues). Top Right: 'alien' from The Prodigy's 'outa space' music video Middle Right: idea for camera shots now having the access to a vehicle to create track shots. Bottom Right: scene from Nothing but Thieves music video where everyone is surrounding the band. Bottom/Middle Left: some location and texture ideas to contrast each other; concrete and nature.

Statement of Intent

I aim to create a music video targeted at an audience between the ages of 16-25, as stated in the brief, for a song within the pop genre. I hope to successfully create a representation of the role of women in music and within society and I hope to achieve this by using a female crew member in a vital role of a band, being the lead guitarist. I aim to make my video appeal to the 'perfect target audience'. The perfect target audience of the pop genre can be targeted through the use of mine-en-scene for example, the costumes used for the band members will reflect how the 'perfect audience' typically dresses in order to make the video appealing to this demographic. The use of locations is also vital in attracting certain demographical audiences. For example, the use of arenas such as the O2 will be used in order to appeal to the middle class audience between the ages of 16 and 25 as generally, this venue will be well known to this audience and the majority of these people w...

Synopsis

The narrative of my music video is the progression of a group of artists from being complete strangers to performing at some of the largest venues in the world. My video will present the progress primarily through the use of mise-en-scene, with the locations and props becoming larger and more advanced throughout the song. The performative element of my music video will be the band performing at each venue that is being presented as a progression of the band. For example, I will use the location of a small, local venue, at which the establishing shots of this venue will fulfil the narrative in my video but demonstrating the band performing there will fulfil the performative aspect of the video. The representation of my song will be presented through the use of male and female crew members as the members of the band. I will be representing male and female and the empowerment of women. This will be achieved through presenting women in roles which stereotypically are male roles, such a...

Position of Artist's Logo and Title

Image
I am going to present the artist logo and title of the sing at the start of the video. This is because this format is conventional of the Pop genre, proven by the screenshots above. The first image is a screenshot from the song 'High Hopes' by Panic At The Disco, which is a song from the pop genre and this title and logo was presented at the Strat of the video, after a short 5-10 second clip. The second was from the music video of the song 'Satellite' by Two Door Cinema Club. The artist's logo and the title of the song were both rented at the start of the video, as the first scene, before any sound and any shot of the artist.
