Audience Demographics
The demographic of a listener of pop music is typically between the ages of 16-25. Two Door Cinema Club successfully attracts these sorts of people. The social class of this demographic of people will generally be middle class and they will be relatively mainstream in the way they dress, the music they listen to and their hobbies. This demographic will tend to listen to pop music which will they will access from platforms such as Youtube, Spotify or Apple Music, as well as Radio Stations such as BBC Radio 1. In terms of what pop music listeners would do in their spare time, they would binge watch TV series from platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime, as well as taking part in mundane sports such as football, swimming, tennis and netball for example. Examples of how these people would dress are present below:
This is an example of a typical teenage girl, who listens to pop music would dress. She is wearing what would would be considered normal clothes, with jeans, a plain t shirt and a denim jacket. She is not wearing anything that is very extreme and different from what is considered the norm, such as rips in her jeans or excessive logos and writing over her t shirt.
This is an example of a more alternative listener of the pop genre. His dress sense and style is still quite mainstream and not to over the top, however he would be considered more opposing to the social norm because of his hat, glasses and the fact that he has a moustache. However this image is an example of a pop listener and someone that could be present at a Two Door Cinema Club concert for example. In terms of age, this male is below the age of 25, due to the young dress sense of his hat, cardigan and curly long hair, however he is considering ably older than 16, whilst remaining in the mass market demographic for pop music which is between there ages of 16 and 25.
My music video is going to attract this demographic of people through mise-en-scene and sound. I will achieve this firstly through location. The locations I will use in my video will be ones that will be either easily recognised by this demographic or relatable to them. For example, the use of the O2 Arena in my video will be easily recognised by this group of people not only because it is iconic in London, but also because many people of this demographic would have had the experience of visiting the O2 for a concert or even another event, whereas people from other social classes and demographic groups will less likely have bee to the O2 for a concert.
I will also achieve this through costume and props. The clothes that the artists in my video will be wearing. will be similar to the dress sense of the images above. This will attract this demographic because the audience will feel similar and relatable to the artists in the video, therefore including them in the music video and song.
